Yesterday I got to shoot some natural light portraits with the beautiful Jessica Veitch from Wink Models and Busy Models.

I was shooting with my favourite combo, the Canon 5D Mark III and Canon EF 85mm f/1.2 and I decided to grab the little Sony a6000 and Sony Sonnar T* 55mm f1.8 CZ for another comparison.

Jessica hold the pose for me to change cameras and get a similar shot.

Sony on left: 1/400 shutter, f1.8, ISO 400;
Canon on right: 1/640 shutter, f1.6, ISO 400.

DISCLAIMER: both photos have been fully edited in Lightroom and Photoshop.

Yes, the 85mm is a lot faster at f/1.2, but I find myself not shooting at f/1.2 that often. The Canon combo is very heavy and expensive, while the Sony is super light, a lot cheaper and really easy use to shoot with, especially in challenging situations, like when you need to go really low to shoot up.

I will try to take only the Sony with me next time I have a similar shoot, let’s see how that goes!
